​About Fred

Born on Eastern Long Island, he spent his boyhood around the farms and bays of this unique setting. His first job was on an uncle’s farm and it gave Fred great memories of early mornings with the dew in the air and the smells of fresh turned earth. His other source of inspiration comes from so many wonderful days on Peconic Bay; fishing, clamming and boating along with days at the Ocean or Long Island Sound beaches. It was no wonder to him how he'd targeted these environments as the basis for most of his work. Combined with an interest in local history, he's tried to preserve a bit of what is left of the unspoiled locale with a look back at how it appeared to our forefathers.
A lifelong fascination with the era of sail, accounts for the majority of his subjects and that too is directed at the craft that sailed and worked Long Island waters.
